About Us

Milk River Insurance was founded by Alex Thornton in August of 2019. Our agency specializes in Ag-based insurance coverages, including Multi-Peril Crop, Crop-Hail, and Farm/Ranch insurance coverage. 

Originally from Big Sandy, Alex has served the Havre community in the insurance industry for more than a decade. He is licensed for property, casualty, and surety. In addition, he earned his Agribusiness and Farm Insurance (AFIS) designation in November of 2012. 

Meagan Passon joined Milk River Insurance as a Licensed Customer Service Representative when the agency opened, and became licensed for property, casualty, and surety in the fall of 2019. 

Milk River Insurance is proud to be a member of the family of agents throughout Montana that sell Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Company (FUMICO). Founded in 1919, FUMICO is a Great Falls-based mutual insurance company that is dedicated to serving Montana’s farm and ranch community. FUMICO is the largest Montana-based mutual insurance company.
